The Second Online Global Orientation - International Migrants Alliance (IMA) October 7, 2023

The International Migrants Alliance (IMA) held its second virtual Global Orientation last October 7, 2023 (9 PM GMT+8:00). The event was attended by around 20 participants from various IMA members and organizations, further supplemented with Indonesian and Spanish interpretation.

Henry Luke, Anakbayan and IMA USA member and organizer, served as the speaker for the orientation. Henry led the discussion of IMA’s key principles and history, alongside the socio-economic and political climate at the time it was founded.

Other key points regarding IMA’s achievements and campaigns were also highlighted, specifically the important aspects of network and alliance building and education and awareness-raising. Henry likewise gave a quick recap of IMA members’ rights, duties, and responsibilities to end the orientation proper.

The event came with an open forum segment, in which members were encouraged to ask questions and share their insights regarding the Global Orientation. Towards the end, all attendees came together to assert the alliance’s catchphrase, “Join IMA in the struggle!”

IMA Global encourages further deliverance of orientations like these. Regional orientations will be carried out among country chapters and regional alliances, the schedules of which to be relayed in the coming months as the alliance grows its network and amplifies campaigns of migrants, refugees, and displaced peoples across the globe.
